HIGH LEGH PARISH PLAN
Reducing speeding in High Legh – your help needed! When we launched the High Legh Parish Plan the number one priority issue for the community was reducing speeding traffic on the A50 and West Lane. This is directly linked to another top issue of making access to the Village Hall safer. Under the auspices of the High Legh Parish Plan Implementation Group we now have a small team looking at taking forward this action and we need your help please. Whilst much data collation and correspondence has already been undertaken over many years regarding the A50 speed limit, there has been no change to the situation as the recorded accidents do not hit the prescribed figures for any corrective action to be taken, such as speed restrictions etc.
What we can doWe want to challenge this very limited view of the problem as it fails to recognise the true impact of speeding traffic on the community e.g. unrecorded accidents, near misses, the way people have to use their cars because they are too frightened to cycle on the road (or allow their children to) and so on. To support our discussions with the authorities we want to collate any testimonials or other evidence which could help support our wish to change the speed limit, and other areas of concern including pedestrian access to the Village Hall.
