The High Legh Parish Plan - Your chance to shape the future
The Parish Plan for High Legh was very sucessfully launched on February 24th 2010.
Launch
“This is the best launch of a Parish Plan which I have attended!”
These were the comments made by Bron Kerrigan, Parish Plans Development Officer, who has worked closely with the Steering Committee [SC] for the last two and a half years, on the evening of February 24th, when High Legh launched it’s Parish Plan. Bron added that the enthusiasm which she had observed at our first Public Meeting in July 2007, when we had unanimously voted in favour of producing our own Plan, was still very evident.
We were delighted to welcome over a hundred residents at the Primary School to celebrate the creation of the Plan in true High Legh style with a glass of bubbly and a slice of celebratory cake. We were joined by representatives from local businesses, the Parish Council, local government and the Police.
Together with presentations by members of the Steering Committee about High Legh’s vision for the future, support for The Plan was offered by Claire Hay, Chair of HLPC, Councillor Andrew Knowles, CAT Officer, Andrew Duncan and Marilyn Kerby from Cheshire East Council. One of the highlights of the evening must be the fact that we now have a data base of well over a hundred volunteers who are keen to help to implement The Plan.

Meeting with local MP
The Launch was followed by a meeting on March 5th when our local MP, George Osborne, met the Plan Steering Committee and some of the volunteers. Apart from sampling some home made cakes, the purpose of the meeting was to raise awareness for The Plan and to find out how George could help us to implement it. George started proceedings by stating that it was very evident that as a village we were very proud of our strong community spirit. He then outlined in detail how he could help with some of the main issues contained in The Plan and is keen to be updated with our progress with the Implementation. Photographs of these events can be seen in the Village Hall, together with a sample of the comments which we have received about The Plan.
